Description: 

  • KIS Alginate is a serilised wound dressing that is composed of calcium alginate (a gelatinous and water-insoluble fibre derived from seaweed)
  • When in contact with a wound, the calcium alginate reacts with the sodium chloride in the wound and turns the dressing into a hydrophilic gel-like consistency 
  • This gel-like covering over the wound maintinas a physiologically moist environment that promotes wound healing and assists in the formation of granulating tissue
